I Matter, Because…

The Year 2020 gave us so many reasons to reflect. As we move further into 2021, hopefully an optimism that often comes with a New Year has stayed with us and is growing. We all play a part in the healing, each of us important in our own way towards restoring and improving the conditions for self and those around us.

This year, our students have a created a unique way to express their own self-worth. The PTA Art Show is here with a theme, “I Matter, Because…” This reminds me of the title of this blog series, “Today Matters,” because each day we have an opportunity to set a course, meet a goal, make an improvement, and maybe most importantly, show compassion and kindness to those around us. What an important lesson for our students to learn. What an important characteristic for us as the adults in their lives to model for them. We need to get busy starting to make the reality we want to see. This just might be our best year yet!

If your child, or a student in your class, would like to enter the PTA Art Show, students should create a piece that coincides with the theme of “I Matter Because...” Artwork may be in any media; simply snap a photo of the piece and email it to [email protected]. Artwork should be submitted no later than 3:30p.m. on Friday, February 26. Judging will take place from the photographs submitted based on grade levels of students. Winners may be contacted to drop off original pieces so that professional photographs can be taken, as all winners will be included in the 2021-2022 PTA School Calendar.
