Student Activities

Drama Club

Drama provides our students with the skills of performing in front of an audience, rehearsing and memorizing lines, creating scenery and working as a team. Students create their own costumes and develop the personality of the character they will portray. This club fosters a comprehensive learning experience from development to fruition on opening night.  Toy School will be presented on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 6:30 PM.

Ms. Boersma and Ms. O'Neill are the faculty sponsors of our Drama Club.

Jump Rope and Walking Club

Jump Rope and Walking Club are two activities that students can participate in during lunch recess.  They are two fun ways for students to incorporate cardiovascular exercise into their school day.  After ten walking laps or jumping sessions the children are recognized on the morning announcements and given a charm to add to their “Kerkstra Dog Tags”.  The school wide participation rate nears 95%!

Mrs. Kouris is the sponsor of both of the clubs.  They actively participate and encourage the students with enthusiasm.  Dr. Wazny is also a member of the Walking Club.

Kerkstra Chorus

Chorus rehearses on Tuesdays from 8:10-8:45 AM.  The chorus performs a wide variety of choral music and holds a Winter and Spring Concert which is open to the public.  The Chorus members also get a chance to perform at other schools in the district and at various community events throughout the year.  All fourth and fifth grade students are invited to join!
