American Education Week 2006
November 13, 2006
Dear Faculty and Staff,
American Education week provides an opportunity to celebrate the excellent educational opportunities afforded our students within our Forest Ridge Elementary School District 142 schools. This year's theme, Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility, highlights the importance of bringing together educators, school staff, parents, students, and communities in a unified effort to build great public schools. The important role that our staff plays in these efforts is primary to our success.
Education is truly a right and is our responsibility. Our district has made wonderful strides in a short time due to the hard work of our board, administration, faculty and staff. Our students have shown significant gains on the state assessment, are gaining greater access to higher standards, and are being provided extended opportunities for learning within the classroom and through extra-curricular offerings. Our students would not have access to quality programs and services without the support and guidance of our educators and school staff.
A continued partnership amongst the various members of our school community benefits children. Working together provides an education for the children of Oak Forest that is second to none. Our children deserve the best that we have to offer and in turn, it is our responsibility to provide the best. Our Board of Education, Administration, faculty and staff work in concert to assure equalized educational opportunities through policy and practice.
Thank you for all that you do on behalf of our children. Your continued commitment to our mission is evidenced through the progress and achievement of our students. Teaching and learning is central to our practice and as a result, our children reap many benefits.
